2022 Aston Martin DBX Review: Specs and Pricing

2022 Aston Martin DBX

OVERVIEW

The 2022 Aston Martin DBX differs from its sports-car brothers with SUV proportions and towing capacity, but the high-riding Aston's attractive appearance and engaging driving manners make it an authentic representative of the illustrious British brand.

The DBX's interior, which offers a variety of cool colors and luxurious materials from which to pick, is as functional as it is beautiful, and it also has a back seat that can accommodate adults and usable cargo space. A twin-turbo V-8 engine from Mercedes-AMG that produces 542 horsepower and seductive sounds is housed under the hood.

It goes with standard and all-wheel drive. The Aston isn't as fast as some other six-figure utes, which is unfortunate. It lacks many popular driver assistance features and has a spongy brake pedal. The 2022 DBX still provides a genuine Aston Martin experience, albeit from a higher vantage point.

What has Changed for 2022?

Now, customers can request massive 23-inch wheels. Wireless charging has been added to the list of features, and a set of newly optional Sports Plus seats offer more bolstering to better secure passengers during sharp turns (previously, 22-inches were the largest rollers available). Last but not least, Aston offers four new interior trim environments: Impulse, Inspire, Create, and Accelerate.

2022 DBX: Engine and Performance

A twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine from Mercedes-AMG powers the DBX. The 8-speed automatic transmission, which is also provided by Mercedes, is paired with the engine, which has 542 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. The DBX is primarily rear-wheel drive, but when the rear tires start to slip, a center transfer case transfers torque to the front axle.

Additionally, it includes a limited-slip rear differential and a 5940-pound towing capacity. The Aston comes with standard adaptive dampers and height-adjustable air springs, which is great for off-road exploration. The DBX we tested accelerated to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, which is respectable for a sporty SUV but noticeably slower than the Lamborghini Urus and other competitors.

The version we drove on England's greatest roads demonstrated the lusty engine sound and the quiet operation of the transmission. Its chassis displayed a wide range of personalities, from elegant and comfortable to responsive and lively, thanks to a varied set of drive modes. The ute had an unresponsive brake pedal despite stopping from 70 mph in just 157 feet.

2022 DBX: Interior and Comfort

The rest of the Aston Martin family and the DBX share a lot of switchgear. Soft-touch surfaces, elegantly stitched leather and a microsuede headliner are all present throughout the interior. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, programmable ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, and heated front and rear seats are all standards on the ute.

A heated steering wheel vented front seats, and a range of even more luxurious interior materials are desirable extras. Adults have plenty of headroom and knee room in the rear seats. With 54 cubic feet of space when the back seats are folded and 22 cubic feet of space behind the rear seat, there is also a sizable amount of cargo volume.

2022 DBX: Connectivity

The huge 10.2-inch infotainment screen, which is based on an antiquated Mercedes interface, is touch-insensitive. Instead, you operate the device using buttons on the steering wheel and a rotary dial on the center console; a built-in touchpad is optional. Popular amenities like Apple CarPlay connectivity, in-dash navigation, a 14-speaker radio, and several USB and 12-volt charging ports are all included in the system.

2022 DBX: Pricing

The 2022 Aston Martin DBX is priced at $195,170. The Aston Martin provides several customization options for the DBX.

Which one to Purchase?

For the DBX, Aston Martin offers an astonishing array of customization choices, particularly through its Q customizing service. The company's online configurator offers a variety of cosmetic packages, but we prefer the interior theme called Accelerate because it combines leather and faux suede and its Sports Plus seats.

We'd choose the lovely Minotaur Green exterior color and the 22-inch Ribbon wheels in black and bronze. Additionally, we would choose the power tailgate, sports exhaust system, and tow package so that we could better enjoy the music from the engine.
